Sadly men suffer from HOMOPHOBIA much more than women. (Best look this up to get a better understanding of it). This generally is when a person has a fear of homosexuality and it is also the fear of being seen as weaker (as associated with women). The guy (in most cases) puts down other guys to show (reinforce his own thoughts) that he is OK. A person comfortable with their own sexuality would not do this. This is also why women had an easier time adopting men's pants to themselves without much criticism. (being called lesbians).

As they say... "It takes a REAL MAN to wear a skirt BEFORE they are vogue".

Women putting down men who adopt skirts as an option to their boring wardrobe also suffer from this and are selfish (reserving skirts exclusively for themselves). Men wore skirts before women and for thousands of years. It is obvious (to all but the homophobes) that a skirt makes more sense for the male anatomy than for a woman. It is a garment that throughout history that was perfected for men.

Pants are a relatively recent invention to improve comfort and provide protection when riding horses and for the industrial revolution but neither apply now. Customs die hard. Pants will continue to be used by both sexes but skirts will be acceptable soon for men. Leading fashion designers have predicted ALL clothing will eventually become unisex (meaning anything goes) with one exception...the bra! (Obviously that doesn't make sense for the guys)!

Sooo...the bottom line is "consider the source" when you hear negative comments. The issue here is not about "look at me" or "wanting to be a woman" it IS about having options than make sense to men's limited wardrobe. Women are way ahead of men having an open mind on the subject and most women find men in skirts a non issue and in fact intriguing.

It would be great to see some encouragement from women to help guys expand their wardrobe with the comfort and practicality of skirts. Women don't have a clue about the comfort aspects for men because they aren't built the same. Guys... (99.9% of them) ALSO have NO idea what it is like to have an absence of binding in the crotch area when sitting or walking because they grew up with it and are used to it. Try a short skirt this summer in place of shorts (for a full day) and I can guarantee you won't give it it up. (suggest E-Bay: search "Mini Skirt" also look at Cargo Skirts which look great on a guy or gal). Yeah, where underwear you don't mind people seeing...you will have the same issues women have (equality hahaha).

Consider the references below...Men in Mini Skirts!!! NOTICE they still look like Men... Just like women still look like women when wearing pants! I fail to see why a skirt is an issue as it is only clothing and clothing doesn't make a person gay or lesbian. Also notice age doesn't make any difference. A skirt will work at any age. (I hope the women that say a women has to give up wearing a mini skirt at age 28 or 35 are paying attention. That is crazy putting a age limit on it. Only the young and inexperienced would say something that stupid)!

Notice this isn't about "cross dressing" (the guys are NOT trying to LOOK like women). Just like women in pants are not trying to look like men! Also note many skirts made for women work perfectly for men WITHOUT modification (best in Junior sizes since the hips are not so big). Finally, forget Kilts! Kilts are expensive, heavy and not neccesary since there are thousands of styles of skirts for women and some of those are great for men as is....
PS: A KILT IS A SKIRT BY DEFINITION...end of any difference!

So... the problem is NOT you. It IS a "problem" others have but you have to deal with it. Not easy. All you can do help make skirts an option by spreading your views on the subject in the hope there are some reasonable people out there that will understand. Whether or not you decide to wear skirts or shorts really depends on your level of self confidence. You could have perfect legs and still some people wouldn't like your legs. That's just the way people are. They judge even though they could have similar imperfections themselves. If you wanna wear skirts or shorts then go for it.

I went to church today, and about 80% of the girls who were wearing skirts just had bare legs. I don't understand why someone would do that in the winter. How did women keep their legs warm while wearing skirts in the 1940's?
I wear a lot of vintage 1940's clothing and I have a lot of skirts I would like to wear this winter. I get cold easily because I have some health problems and I am looking for a way to keep my legs warm when I wear skirts. I know tights are warmer than panyhose, but the only tights I can find are colored (black, blue, red, etc.) and women didn't wear colored stockings back then. How did women keep their legs warm? Is there such thing as silk long underwear that stops at the knee?

Also, would nude colored fishnet tights suffice? I know now-a-days fishnets have a bit of a stigma with them. Would it be considered racy?

if you go to figure skating stores or dance stores, you can find flesh/skin colored tights. i mean, figure skaters wear them so that they could skate around with their dress so that would make sense to me.

Why do girls' parents allow their daughters to wear skirts with bare legs?
Why do girls' parents allow their daughters to go to school/church with bare legs if they are wearing a skirt or dress? It always looks tacky, but in the winter, it's just dumb. I see a few girls wearing pantyhose, but a majority of them don't. Both my sister and girlfriend wear pantyhose every time they wear a skirt or dress, and that's how they were raised as to what's proper.

I agree that it looks cheap and tacky, especially in God's house! As a society, we need to get back to teaching our young people proper morals, especially our girls, who should be taught to always present themselves as godly young ladies and to always wear modest feminine attire as the Lord has commanded us to do in His Word the Holy Bible in Deuteronomy 22:5: " The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." This means ladies should always dress in modest dresses and skirts/blouses and refrain from wearing slacks or pants of any kind. Since I accepted the Lord Jesus into my life 10 years ago when I was 15, I've been wearing skirts and dresses only on a daily basis and, for reasons of modesty, I always wear stockings as well. I dress this way because I believe it's what God wants me to do and I also believe it's the only correct choice for any other woman. As a country, we have to turn back to God and I think parents requiring proper godly dress for all our young ladies is a good place to start!

I mean, I guess you could lose a little weight. I think 115 is healthy, although I'm not that. I'm only 107 and I'm sixteen, but that's because naturally I'm a small person.
Maybe you could try toning up your legs. and you do that by runnninnnggg. I run every day. When I first started running, I ran for 3 minutes, walked for one and I repeated for about 15 minutes. Then I worked my way up and now I run, mostly non-stop, for 45 minutes and I'm working up to an hour. I also hardly eat any junk food because I like being a health person and it keeps my legs really slim.
